Tinubu Praises Zulum for People-Centred Projects in Borno

President Bola Tinubu commended Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum for his outstanding investments in education, healthcare, and transportation that focus on improving people’s lives. He made the remarks on Saturday, December 20, 2025, during an official visit to Maiduguri as part of a three-state tour covering Borno, Bauchi, and Lagos. Tinubu highlighted Zulum’s consistent commitment to development that puts citizens first.

The President inaugurated several projects in Maiduguri. These included the international wing of the Muhammadu Buhari Airport, a new VIP extension, electric vehicles, intra-state buses, tricycles, and three model schools—one primary, one junior secondary, and one senior secondary.

“I am commissioning this primary, junior secondary school and senior secondary schools to the glory of God, and continuous education of our children,” Tinubu said. He praised the governor for steady progress in education, health, transportation, and livelihoods for Borno residents.

Tinubu also attended the marriage ceremony of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of former Borno Governor Ali Modu Sheriff, and Hadiza Kam Salem. Following Kanuri customs, the President acted as the groom’s father, while Zulum represented the bride’s side and received the traditional bride price in gold coins. The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi, hosted the event at the Maiduguri Central Mosque.

Several governors joined the visit, including those from Katsina, Taraba, Yobe, Delta, Gombe, Adamawa, and Ogun, along with senators and ministers. Tinubu arrived in Maiduguri around 12:30 pm and left for Bauchi at about 3:25 pm

The trip underscores federal support for Borno’s rebuilding efforts after years of insurgency, with tangible gains in infrastructure and social services bringing hope to communities.
