President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima are expected to spend a total of N9.36 billion on local and foreign travel, as well as food and refreshments in 2026, according to the recently released Appropriation Bill.
Most of the spending covers the President’s overseas trips, while a smaller portion is earmarked for meals and hospitality for both leaders.
The 2026 budget, totaling N58.18 trillion, also prioritises key sectors such as defence, education, health, power, and agriculture, reflecting the government’s focus on national security, social welfare, and economic development. Additional allocations include purchases for vehicles, office equipment, and medical tools for the presidency and vice presidency.
The bill has passed its second reading in the Senate and is set for further review before final approval, as lawmakers examine the proposed spending plan for the year.
