President Bola Tinubu has informed the House of Representatives of his plan to personally present the 2026 national budget to the National Assembly.
The Speaker, Abbas Tajudeen, read the President’s letter during Thursday’s plenary, confirming that the budget presentation is scheduled for Friday, December 19, 2025, at noon, before a joint session of lawmakers.
According to budget estimates currently before the House, the 2026 budget is valued at about ₦54.46 trillion. The Federal Government expects to generate roughly ₦34.33 trillion in revenue, while the remaining gap will be covered through borrowing.
The proposal also shows heavy spending on capital projects, debt repayment, and workers’ pensions, with a large budget deficit projected for the year.
The presentation will formally kick off legislative consideration of the 2026 spending plan.
