VP Shettima Brings Buhari’s Remains Home for Burial

Nigeria is set to bid farewell to former President Muhammadu Buhari, whose body is expected to arrive in Daura, Katsina State, today for burial.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, who was dispatched by President Bola Tinubu to lead a delegation to the UK, is returning to the country alongside the late leader’s remains and members of his family.

The delegation’s return signals preparations for final rites in Buhari’s hometown, where he will be buried according to Islamic customs.

The federal government has directed national mourning protocols, including flying flags at half-mast in honour of the late statesman who governed Nigeria between 2015 and 2023.
