WAFCON: Tinubu Awards Champions National Honours, Cash and Homes

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has honoured Nigeria’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations champions with national awards and major rewards following their historic triumph.

At a ceremony held Monday at the State House, all 24 players received the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) title, a $100,000 cash prize, and a three-bedroom apartment each.

Technical crew members were also recognised, each receiving $50,000 from the presidency.

Welcoming the team, led by captain Rasheedat Ajibade and head coach Justin Madugu, Tinubu commended their performance, calling it “a source of pride and inspiration for the nation.”

“You have shown the true Nigerian spirit. Your victory is a reminder of what we can achieve together,” the president said during the reception.

The champions arrived at the Presidential Villa around 4:35 p.m. to a standing ovation from government officials and supporters.
