WAEC has dismissed a viral document claiming to list secondary schools with withheld 2025 WASSCE results over alleged exam malpractice.
The council clarified that although over 192,000 candidates had their results withheld, the circulating list naming specific schools is fake.
In a public statement, WAEC emphasised that it never requests schools to submit candidate scripts and warned the public to rely only on official communication channels for accurate updates.
“Kindly ignore any message listing schools whose results were supposedly cancelled. WAEC will never ask any centre to bring scripts of candidates to the office, where would they get them from?” the statement read. “Do not accept any message that is not on our handles or accredited media.”
This comes amid a significant drop in candidate performance, with only 38.32% earning five credits including English and Mathematics, down from 72.12% last year.
