The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has formally handed over a 753-unit housing estate, previously linked to former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele, to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
The handover, which took place on May 20, 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, marks a key step in repurposing recovered assets for public benefit.
“This marks a significant milestone in our determination to ensure recovered assets serve Nigerians,” said Housing Minister Ahmed Dangiwa, who also announced plans to assess the estate’s structural integrity before putting the units up for sale.
The EFCC Chairman, Olanipekun Olukoyede, described the handover as part of broader efforts to ensure recovered assets are transparently redeployed.
“We won’t allow looted assets to be looted again,” he said.
Units will be sold through a public process using the Renewed Hope Portal, while some will be reserved for special government needs.
