FBI Proffers Financial Incentive for Intelligence Leading to Apprehension of Nigerian National

United States federal authorities have publicly announced a monetary reward for information that results in the capture and successful prosecution of a Nigerian man. The individual is wanted for evading judicial proceedings over two decades ago .

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has stated it will offer up to $10,000, equivalent to approximately fourteen million naira, to any member of the public who can provide actionable intelligence . The subject of the manhunt, Olumide Adebiyi Adediran, absconded from the Central District of Illinois in late December 2001. His departure occurred shortly before his scheduled federal trial was set to commence on allegations of financial criminal activity .

The specific charges filed against him include Bank Fraud, Identification Document Fraud, and Credit Card Fraud. According to the official allegations, the suspect attempted to withdraw funds from a bank in Champaign, Illinois, using a counterfeit cheque. He is also accused of utilising stolen personal details belonging to American citizens to open various financial accounts .

As a consequence of his flight, a federal arrest warrant was issued on January 2, 2002, charging him with Violation of Conditions of Release. The FBI has reiterated that the case remains active and that the reward is a serious measure aimed at finally locating the long-sought fugitive .
