Police Urged to Look into Claims Against Paystack Co-Founder

A group of women’s rights advocates has called on officers to open a full probe into a top tech boss over claims of wrong behaviour with a junior staff member. The man, Ezra Olubi, co-started the payments firm Paystack, which stepped him away from duties last week after old social media posts resurfaced with crude remarks.

The advocates handed a plea to police in Lagos on Friday, asking for quick checks to see if any laws got broken. They pointed to the posts from years ago that joked about touching workmates in bad ways and judged women harshly. The group said such talk can point to real risks and must not go unchecked, even if from long back.

Paystack said it launched its own review right away and would keep Olubi off work until done. The firm stressed fair play for all sides and promised to share findings once ready.

No charges have come yet, and Olubi has gone quiet online. The call adds heat to talks about holding powerful people to account in Nigeria’s growing tech world.
