To mark World Sickle Cell Day, music star Adekunle Gold has launched a new initiative called “5 Star Care” with the intention of supporting people living with sickle cell disease.

The singer, who was born with the condition, partnered with the Lagos State Ministry of Health and the Sickle Cell Management Initiative to provide free health insurance for 1,000 sickle cell warriors in Lagos.

Adekunle Gold said the project is part of his promise to make life easier for people facing the same health challenges he has lived with since childhood. In the past, he has organised medical outreach for over 300 patients and created a scholarship program for sickle cell warriors interested in the music industry.

“5 Star Care isn’t just a project… it’s my way of saying ‘I see you, I hear you, and I’m here for you,’” he said.
