The ceremonial activities for the coronation of the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, were initiated on Monday with a service of interdenominational prayers at the palace in Oke-Aremo, Ibadan . The event, which marks the beginning of a week-long series of festivities, featured contributions from Christian, Islamic, and traditional religious leaders, uniting the community in prayer for the future monarch’s reign.
The Balogun of Ibadan-designate, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, affirmed that the ascension of Oba Ladoja to the throne as the 44th Olubadan is proceeding smoothly and without the disagreements that characterised the installation of his predecessor. He attributed this harmony to the clear and destined nature of the succession, noting that Oba Ladoja had been in clear communication with the council of high chiefs following the passing of the previous king . The official crowning ceremony, where Oba Ladoja will receive the staff of office, is scheduled for Friday, September 26, at Mapo Hall and is anticipated to be attended by dignitaries from across the nation, including President Bola Tinubu.
Community leaders expressed strong optimism for the new era. The President General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, Ajeniyi Ajewole, stated that the city is poised to experience peace and development under the leadership of Oba Ladoja, who is the first former senator and governor to ascend to the historic throne.
