The Federal Government is set to hold an expanded session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) today, Thursday, July 17, in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
This gathering, scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, forms part of national mourning activities approved by President Bola Tinubu following Buhari’s passing.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by Rabiu Ibrahim, Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, the special session will come after the Third Day prayer in Daura, Katsina State, where Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead a delegation of federal cabinet members to pay their respects.
The government has also announced interfaith prayers in honour of the late leader. A special Muslim prayer will take place on Friday, July 18, at the National Mosque in Abuja, followed by a Christian memorial service on Sunday, July 20, at a yet-to-be-announced venue.
