The Federal Government has released N50 billion to academic and non-academic staff of federal universities as payment for earned allowances, fulfilling a pledge made by President Bola Tinubu.
This was confirmed on Wednesday by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, through a statement issued by Folasade Boriowo, Director of Press at the Federal Ministry of Education.
The intervention, Alausa noted, reinforces Tinubu’s commitment to repositioning Nigeria’s education sector through strategic investments in human capital and infrastructure.
“This is more than a financial gesture; it reflects the President’s trust in Nigerian youth and the educators shaping their future,” the minister said.
He also commended university unions for maintaining industrial harmony, highlighting that the country is currently enjoying one of its longest uninterrupted academic sessions in recent times.
President Tinubu restated his dedication to keeping students in school and ending recurring strikes in the education sector, calling the youth “the heartbeat of our country.”
