Initial reports indicate the journalist died during an armed robbery at her residence. It has been reported that she jumped from a balcony in an attempt to flee the assailants . Subsequent accounts from colleagues and a family friend suggest that after her fall, she was transported to a medical facility but was allegedly refused prompt treatment, which may have contributed to the tragic outcome .
The management of Arise News has released a statement honouring Maduagwu, recalling her as a vibrant colleague and a trained lawyer who was a powerful advocate for social causes, including campaigns against gender-based violence . Authorities in the Federal Capital Territory have confirmed that an investigation into the robbery and her death is now in progress .
