Popular Nigerian cook has picked up her second award from Guinness World Records for making the biggest batch of jollof rice ever. The pot held 8,780 kilograms, or about 19,356 pounds, cooked up in Lagos last September.
This win follows her first big honour just over a year ago, when she held a cooking session for 93 hours and 11 minutes in May 2023. Now, she stands as Nigeria’s top chef with two such titles under her belt.
Baci shared pictures of the shiny plaques online, calling the whole tale one of “faith, fire, and history.” She said it shines a light on Nigeria’s skill in food making and fresh ideas. In her post, she wrote: “Our plaques are finally here! Two records. Two plaques. One story of faith, fire, and history. Twice, God showed up for me. Twice, we made history for Nigeria. And not just any records, two of the biggest culinary records ever set. Together with Gino, we created something bigger than ourselves, a story that reached over five billion people and reminded the world what’s possible when passion meets purpose. I’m a two-time world record holder, someone pinch me.”
She added a line from the Bible, Isaiah 61:7, about getting twice the good instead of shame, and finding lasting joy.
The jollof event drew more than 20,000 fans, stars, and food lovers. Every bit of the huge meal went to visitors and good causes, as the rules demand.
