Pastor Enoch Adeboye, leader of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has reiterated a personal vision about how he believes his life will end, peacefully, on a Sunday, after church service and his favourite meal of pounded yam.
Speaking during a sermon at the RCCG’s annual convention, themed “The Overcomers,” Adeboye reminded the congregation that death for Christians doesn’t have to be painful or frightening. “I’ve said it before, and I’m saying it again; I will go after church on a Sunday, full and satisfied, without sickness,” he told worshippers.
The message came as part of a teaching titled “Possess Your Possessions,” where the cleric urged Christians to stop accepting defeat in areas of life where God has promised victory, such as health, finances, fertility, and long life.
“Jesus already paid the price,” Adeboye said, warning that believers must actively resist spiritual attacks to enjoy these promises.
“There’s a thief out to steal, kill, and destroy. You must fight back,” he added, referencing John 10:10.
He challenged the idea that wealth and faith can’t coexist, saying, “If you prosper, critics will question your faith. If you’re poor, they’ll ask, ‘Where is your God?’”
Drawing from Bible stories of those who overcame hardship through prayer and persistence, Adeboye encouraged the audience to reject anything that doesn’t align with God’s promises.
“Stop tolerating sickness, poverty, and premature death,” he concluded. “Fight for what’s yours in Christ.”
