Immigration Service to Launch Quick-Return Pass for Stranded Nigerians Overseas

Nigeria’s border control team plans to roll out a new one-trip travel pass to help citizens stuck abroad get home safely if their passports run out, go missing, or get taken. Called the Single Travel Emergency Passport, or STEP, it will use finger scans and other body checks to make sure it’s secure.

The top boss, Kemi Nanna Nandap, shared the news at a big gathering in Abuja that Nigeria put on with France. The event pulled in experts from groups like the West African bloc, the African Union, and Europe to talk about stopping people smuggling and unfair treatment of travellers.

This pass will take over from the old quick-travel note and fits into wider changes to handle who comes and goes better, while keeping personal details safe. People can only get it at Nigerian offices abroad, and it works just for one way back—no extras.

Nandap said the pass lets folks return without hassle and shows the team’s drive for quick help and strong checks on who travels. She added that Nigeria stays true to world rules on safe and fair movement across borders, with more team-ups to fight bad travel deals.
