The Lagos State Government has temporarily lifted enforcement on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lanes along Eko Bridge and Odo Iya-Alaro to ease traffic caused by ongoing repairs on the Third Mainland Bridge.

This decision, announced by the Lagos Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), was approved by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Transportation, Sola Giwa.

Giwa said the move is to help motorists navigate the increased traffic pressure due to the partial closure of the Ifako-bound section of the bridge.

“This is a temporary adjustment to ease the current traffic situation and reduce travel time,” Giwa explained.

With the new directive, private vehicles can now use the BRT lanes in the affected areas, especially during busy hours. However, commercial buses and heavy-duty vehicles must still obey safety and loading rules.

LASTMA boss, Bakare Oki Olalekan, assured the public that officers are on the ground to manage traffic and enforce order. He urged drivers to cooperate and follow traffic instructions during this period.

The government also advised motorists to use alternative routes and stay updated through traffic alerts on radio and social media.
