The National Assembly has unsealed the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, paving the way for her potential return to work after a six-month suspension. The office, located in the Senate Wing, was officially reopened on the morning of Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
The action was carried out by the office of the Sergeant-at-Arms, following a directive from the management of the National Assembly. This development comes after the senator’s six-month suspension ended earlier in September. She had been suspended by the Senate in March 2025.
The unsealing of the office grants the senator physical access to her workspace. However, it remains unclear when she will officially resume her duties in the Senate chamber. The Senate is scheduled to reconvene on October 7, 2025, and a final decision on her full reinstatement is expected to be addressed then. The situation has been complicated by ongoing legal proceedings related to the suspension.
