Nigeria’s telecom industry is bouncing back after recent economic challenges, according to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
The NCC revealed that telecom companies, which previously struggled due to foreign exchange issues, are now regaining stability. This turnaround is linked to recent tariff adjustments that have helped operators recover losses and begin reinvesting in their networks.
As a result, the Commission says Nigerians should expect better service delivery in the coming months.
However, the sector still faces serious challenges like fibre cuts, theft, and infrastructure damage. In just one week in May 2025, nearly 150 cases of fibre cuts were reported, disrupting service in many areas.
To address these issues, the NCC is working with relevant authorities to protect telecom infrastructure and take legal action against vandals.
The Commission stressed that telecom services are vital for national security, economic growth, and daily communication needs, and pledged to keep pushing for improvements that benefit all Nigerians.
