NDLEA officers have caught a 20-year-old singer trying to pick up a large batch of smuggled cannabis from America. The man, known as Steady Boy, whose real name is Godspower George Osahenrumwen, showed up at a spot in Lekki, Lagos, to claim the package meant for his boss. That boss, called Zee Money, is still on the run.

The haul included 140 bags of a strong cannabis type called Loud, weighing over 77 kilograms in total. Customs stopped it at Lagos’s main airport after spotting it hidden inside three boxes of bathtubs flown in on a courier plane from the United States. This bust came on a Tuesday, with the singer nabbed soon after at a villa near the waterfront.

In a linked raid, the force found a hidden workshop in Ajao Estate, Lagos, where crooks were cooking up fake cannabis called Colos or Colorado. They grabbed the site’s boss and took away 16 kilograms of the fresh brew, plus 1.7 kilograms of a chemical called ADB-CHMNACA, 4.5 kilograms of potassium carbonate, and 91 litres of dibromobutane. This followed tips from earlier grabs of the same drug.

The team also struck hard elsewhere in the country that week. In Mushin, Lagos, on a Saturday, they raided a dealer’s hideout and seized 16 lumps of another cannabis strain from Ghana, along with 16 kilograms of Colorado packed in fancy bags and bottles. The dealer, a 28-year-old named Afeez Salisu, or Malu, is in custody.

Up in Kaduna, Sunday patrols on the Abuja-Jos road stopped a load of 85,000 tramadol pills heading from Anambra to Bauchi. The buyer, 27-year-old Musa Abdulkarim, got caught there two days later. On Tuesday, at a checkpoint near Abuja, officers pulled over 47-year-old Hamza Musa with 33,000 bottles of a fresh mood-altering drink called Akuskura from Lagos. In another spot in Kaduna, 30-year-old Saidu Nafiu had 132 kilograms of wild cannabis when arrested.

In Ogun State’s Abeokuta, three men—24-year-old Seun Olaniyi, 28-year-old Rauf Asogba, and 50-year-old Ayinla Adeniyi—got nabbed on Saturday after crossing from Benin with nearly 1,800 kilograms of cannabis in a bus. One man, Jamilu Mustapha, fell in Bauchi’s Ningi area.

Kwara officers found over half a million tramadol and Exol-5 tablets in a truck near Ilorin on Wednesday, run by Halilu Amiru, Rabiu Maikudi, and Ibrahim Mati. In Edo’s Uhunmwode district, two vans carried 1,455 kilograms of cannabis before a midweek stop.

Ondo saw two big wins: on Tuesday, 2,800 kilograms linked to 32-year-old woman Ige Olarewaju turned up in Ogbese, and 737 kilograms with Samuel Adebayo in Akure. Friday in Lagos’s Badagry, 76 litres of liquid cannabis mix, or skuchies, came from Ige Oluwale. Thursday in Taraba’s Wukari, brothers Musbahu Abdullahi and Saleiman Ahmed had 30,000 tramadol pills and 177 grams of speed pills en route from Anambra to Adamawa.

The agency’s top boss praised his team’s grit and fair play in cracking down on dealers. He promised to smash every drug ring they spot, no matter where. Over the past two and a half years, they have jailed 9,263 out of 46,000 suspects and grabbed more than 8.5 million kilograms of banned substances.
