The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) says it can now produce up to 5,000 passports a day, a big jump from the previous 300.
Interior Minister, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, said the new centralised system in Abuja has cut processing time to just a few hours.
“This is a game-changer for passport processing in Nigeria. We promised two-week delivery, and we’re now pushing for one week,” he said.
According to him, the reform will make passports more reliable, faster to get, and bring Nigeria in line with international standards.
“This development is about driving efficiency and building a passport system Nigerians can be proud of,” Tunji-Ojo added.
