Nigeria’s oil and gas regulator has told drivers not to rush out and stock up on fuel, as there is plenty to go around. The body says stockpiling only leads to needless queues and waste, and it has enough reserves to keep pumps flowing smoothly.

The head of the agency stressed that supply lines from refineries and imports are working well, with no shortages on the horizon. He pointed to recent checks at depots across the country that show stocks are high, and tankers are moving goods to stations without hold-ups.

This comes as some filling stations have seen long lines in recent days, sparked by rumours of low supplies. The watchdog blames such talk for the fuss and calls on everyone to ignore it. It has also warned sellers against hiking prices or closing early, saying they face fines or shutdowns if caught.

Motorists can help by buying just what they need for the coming days, the agency added. It vows to keep a close eye on the market to ensure fair play and steady access for all.
