Fuel prices in neighbouring Togo have risen to nearly N1,830 per litre, making it significantly more expensive than in Nigeria, where prices remain lower due to government support.
This large price difference has led to concerns about increased smuggling, as people may try to take cheaper Nigerian fuel to sell in Togo for a profit.
In a separate development, the Dangote Group has firmly denied claims that it offers special discounted prices to certain fuel sellers. The company stated that it treats all fuel distributors equally and does not give unfair advantages to any particular businesses.
The situation highlights the challenges faced by Nigeria and its neighbours in managing fuel supplies and pricing across the region. Nigerian authorities have confirmed that petrol prices within the country will remain unchanged for now.
