Residents of Lagos State and some parts of Ogun are set to experience extended power interruptions as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) prepares for a major maintenance project on its 330kV transmission line.

The upgrade, scheduled to run from July 28 to August 21, 2025, will require daily shutdowns between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., the Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED) confirmed on Monday.

ANED’s Chief Executive Officer, Sunday Oduntan, said the temporary outage will cover all of Lagos and areas of Ogun such as Sagamu, Ogijo and Abeokuta.

“The line must be powered down to ensure safety during the installation of new fibre optic cables. Power supply will resume each evening after work ends,” Oduntan explained.

TCN noted that the upgrade on the Omotosho–Ikeja West line is critical to improving grid stability and enabling real-time monitoring through its Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.

Both Ikeja Electric and Eko Distribution Company have issued advisories to customers, warning of possible load shedding and urging residents to prepare for the maintenance period.
