The Lagos State Police have clarified that a device seen in a viral video with Pastor Paul Adefarasin is not a real gun but a stun gun, which is a non-lethal device typically used to control crowds.
The video, which sparked concern online, showed the House on the Rock pastor holding the object while driving an unregistered vehicle. In response, Adefarasin visited the Lagos State Police Command to explain the situation and cooperate with investigators.
According to a statement posted by the police on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, the pastor was questioned and gave a written statement. Officers also examined the item in question and confirmed it was a stun gun, not a conventional weapon.
Although stun guns are classified as restricted anti-riot tools, the police said Adefarasin has been granted temporary bail as they continue their investigation. They promised to share more details once the case is fully reviewed.
The police encouraged the public to remain calm and await the outcome of the ongoing inquiry.
