President Bola Tinubu has returned to the Nigerian capital after concluding a ten-day private visit to London.

The President’s aircraft touched down at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Tuesday afternoon. He was welcomed by a number of senior government officials, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the President’s return in an official statement. The statement clarified that the trip was a “short holiday” that had been planned beforehand.

While abroad, the President was said to have remained in constant contact with his team. His office stated that he continued to direct affairs of state and received daily briefings on important national matters.

With his return, the President is expected to chair a meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) later this week. The FEC is the government’s highest decision-making body, comprised of all federal ministers.

The President’s return puts to rest any speculation about his whereabouts and confirms he is back to lead the government’s work in person.
