Amid worsening cases of power tower vandalism, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is urging host communities to take an active role in protecting national electricity infrastructure.
At a sensitisation forum held in Rivers State, TCN officials highlighted the crippling impact of repeated sabotage on electricity supply, citing the July attack on transmission towers that left Bayelsa State in blackout for over four months
The company warned that ongoing vandalism threatens economic activity and slows development, stressing that such acts often occur with local complicity. Community representatives, in turn, proposed forming neighbourhood watch groups to deter future attacks.
