President Bola Tinubu has given Nigeria Customs Service chief Bashir Adewale Adeniyi another year in office, moving his tenure to August 2026.
According to presidential adviser Bayo Onanuga, the extension will allow Adeniyi to “consolidate ongoing reforms” such as the Customs modernisation drive, the National Single Window Project, and Nigeria’s role in the African Continental Free Trade Area.
“The President is confident this will strengthen Customs in trade facilitation, revenue generation and border security,” Onanuga said.
Adeniyi has led the agency since mid-2023 and was confirmed as Comptroller-General later that year.
