A top aide to President Bola Tinubu has stepped down, just as criticism grows over how the presidency is being run.

Aliyu Audu, Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, resigned on Monday in a letter dated June 8. He thanked the president for the opportunity to serve but gave no specific reason for his sudden exit. The Presidency has not yet reacted.

His resignation comes as Senator Ali Ndume, a top lawmaker, accused some of Tinubu’s aides of misleading him and damaging his image. Speaking on a TV interview, Ndume said those around the president are not telling him the truth about the country’s hardship and are more focused on personal gain than public service.

He warned that this disconnect could worsen the growing frustration among Nigerians if the president continues to rely on the wrong people.

Ndume urged President Tinubu to listen more to voices from the grassroots and lawmakers who are in touch with the everyday struggles of citizens.
