The South-East Caucus of the House of Representatives has called for the cancellation of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), citing massive technical failures that disrupted the process.
Caucus leader, Hon. Iduma Igariwey, described the exam as compromised, following JAMB’s admission that nearly 400,000 candidates were affected by system errors and asked to retake the test within 48 hours.
“This exam has lost its integrity and fairness. Many students couldn’t access centres or write the rescheduled exam,” Igariwey said.
The lawmakers also demanded the resignation of JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, and the suspension of officials responsible for the technical failures.
They described the situation as a national embarrassment and urged the federal government to conduct a fresh, credible examination to restore public trust.
