Adefowora Abiodun, one of the individuals declared wanted in connection with the alleged $1 billion Crypto Bridge Exchange fraud, has voluntarily reported to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Abiodun surrendered himself at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Monday around 4:00 p.m., accompanied by his legal team. His appearance follows a court ruling last Thursday granting the EFCC permission to detain six individuals linked to the controversial cryptocurrency platform pending further investigation and possible charges.

The decision was issued by Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja after considering submissions made by the commission’s legal representative, Fadila Yusuf. In his ruling, Justice Nwite said the EFCC had presented sufficient grounds for its application.

The six individuals, including Adefowora Abiodun, Adefowora Oluwanisola, Emmanuel Uko, Seyi Oloyede, Avwerosuo Otorudo, and Chukwuebuka Ehirim, are accused of operating a fraudulent investment scheme under the guise of the Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX), with investors reportedly defrauded of over $1 billion.

Speaking on his client’s behalf, Barrister Babatunde Busari said Abiodun’s decision to turn himself in reflects his readiness to cooperate with authorities.

“He wants to clear his name and correct misleading narratives being circulated in the media,” the lawyer stated.

The EFCC is continuing its investigation to track down the remaining suspects.
