Award-winning writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has questioned the medical care her young son received before his death in Lagos earlier this month.
She said the child was taken to a private hospital for routine medical tests after becoming seriously ill. According to her account, he was sedated for the procedure but later suffered severe complications that led to his death.
Adichie claimed the situation worsened shortly after the sedation and that proper medical attention was not given at a critical moment. She said the child had been stable before the procedure and was scheduled to receive further treatment abroad the following day.
The author described the experience as deeply traumatic and called for accountability to ensure similar incidents do not happen again. The hospital involved has declined to comment publicly on the matter.
