The Federal High Court has announced a major redeployment of judges across several divisions, following the suspension of Justice Inyang Ekwo by the National Judicial Council over misconduct.

Justice M.G. Umar, formerly of the Enugu Division, has been reassigned to the Abuja Division, where he will now preside over all matters previously handled by Ekwo in Court 5.

Other notable transfers include Justice Tijjani Garba Ringim to Yola, Justice M.T. Segun-Bello to Enugu, Justice Bala Khalifa-Mohammed Usman to Awka, and Justice Amina Aliyu Mohammed to Gombe.

The Chief Judge, Justice John Tsoho, directed that all pending judgments be concluded at the judges’ former stations, while newly reassigned judges are expected to take full charge of cases in their new divisions.

Court authorities have also clarified that litigants and lawyers are not required to request reassignment for cases previously under Court 5 in Abuja, as the transition takes immediate effect.
