The Federal Government has approved NINAuth, a new digital platform developed by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), as the official channel for verifying identities using the National Identification Number (NIN).
All government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) have been directed to adopt the platform for identity checks going forward.
According to NIMC’s spokesperson, Kayode Adegoke, NINAuth supports real-time authentication and prioritises user privacy by requiring consent before personal data is accessed.
“This move is in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to strengthen digital identity systems in the country,” Adegoke said.
The platform is accessible via web, mobile applications, and API integration, and will be used for services such as SIM registration, passport applications, and financial transactions. It also features single sign-on functionality for easier and more secure access.
NIMC says the tool gives individuals greater control over their data, curbs unauthorised access, and improves service delivery across sectors.
More details about the service are available at ninauth.nimc.gov.ng.
