A Nigerian lawmaker has accused his opponents of using his wife’s illness to damage his name and block his work. Senator Ned Nwoko said a group out to get him has twisted Regina Daniels’ troubles to spread lies and hurt his standing, especially now that he serves in the Senate.
In a message shared on Monday, Nwoko called the attacks a long-running plot by jealous folks who envy his rise. He said they pick on his marriage to the actress, which followed local customs that allow more than one wife. Her family joined in the wedding openly, and he treated her with great care, as many who know him can confirm.
Nwoko explained that Regina has faced drug problems and mood swings for years, even before they wed. She has spoken about her use of substances and pills for bipolar disorder, and old school friends back this up online. He has pushed her to get clean through rehab, but no one has levelled real charges against him.
He slammed tales of him stealing land back home as nonsense. In truth, bosses gave him the plot after he paid fairly, and he built a sports college there that helps the area. Nwoko said those behind the dirt will face court for slander and must back up their claims.
To clear the air, he noted Daniels was born on 10 October 2000, so if married six years, she tied the knot at 19, not 17. The whole event was out in the open, with her kin handing her over. He feels let down by his own people for pulling him down, unlike groups that cheer success.
Nwoko warned the plotters to watch their words, as they risk the law. He sees Daniels as a soft spot his foes are hitting to stop his projects and good name.
