Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has confirmed he will run again in the 2027 general elections. He also announced his willingness to serve for only one term if elected.
Obi made the declaration during a live session on X Spaces, where he fielded questions from Nigerians at home and abroad.
“I will bring stability in Nigeria within two years in office,” he said. “If I have the opportunity to serve, it will be one term, and I will do my best within that period.”
Addressing speculations of a possible alliance with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Obi dismissed any such arrangement but expressed openness to coalition talks focused on solving the country’s pressing issues.
“If the coalition is not about stopping the killings in Benue, Zamfara, how to revive our economy, how to make our industries productive, how to put food on the tables of Nigerians, count me out,” he said.
He eemphasised non-violent and transparent approach to the 2027 campaign, vowing to ensure that “our votes will count.”
Obi also identified security, education, and poverty reduction as top priorities within his first 100 days in office.
