A toddler believed to have been trafficked from Abuja to Aba earlier this year has been rescued by operatives of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), following a collaborative effort with the Department of State Services (DSS).

The two-year-old girl, now identified under the alias Chiamaka Favor, was reportedly sold for ₦100,000 by a suspect linked to multiple trafficking networks. The rescue was carried out on May 8, 2025, according to a statement released by NAPTIP on Friday.

Authorities say the suspect, who is now in custody, had ties to at least three trafficking syndicates operating out of the Federal Capital Territory. The individual was initially apprehended by DSS operatives in Abia State and later transferred to NAPTIP for further investigation.

While inquiries into the broader network are still ongoing, NAPTIP is calling on the public, particularly relatives or guardians of the child, to come forward with any relevant information that may aid in family reunification.
