Union Bank of Nigeria has completed its merger with Titan Trust Bank, creating a larger financial institution. The combined bank will use the Union Bank name, while Titan Trust Bank will no longer operate as a separate company.

The Central Bank of Nigeria gave final approval for the move, which follows a process that began with an agreement signed back in 2021. The merger brings together Union Bank’s long history in banking with Titan Trust’s modern digital approach.

Customers of both banks will not need to make any changes to their accounts. All existing account details, cards and banking services will continue to work as before. The bank has promised there will be no disruption to services.

The new combined bank will have more than 293 branches and over 930 ATMs across Nigeria. This larger network will allow the bank to offer improved services to all types of customers, from individual savers to small businesses and large companies.

Union Bank’s chief executive described the merger as an important moment in the bank’s 108-year history. The combination of Union Bank’s stability with Titan Trust’s innovation is expected to create better banking services for Nigerians.

The chairman of Union Bank’s board said the merger begins a new period of growth and shared prosperity. The bank aims to create value for customers, shareholders and communities while supporting financial inclusion in Nigeria.

This strategic move strengthens Union Bank’s position in the market and is expected to create operational efficiencies. The combined bank aims to provide modern and accessible banking services to all Nigerians.
