Rights lawyer Femi Falana has accused the Federal Government and Senate President Godswill Akpabio of disobeying court orders, warning that the practice undermines democracy.
“Judgments of courts are disobeyed by governments and powerful individuals. The most notorious institution is the Senate under the leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio,” he said.
Falana pointed to the Senate’s refusal to reinstate Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan despite a court ruling, as well as the federal government’s failure to implement judgments on union leadership and local government autonomy.
He urged President Bola Tinubu to act, cautioning that continued disobedience of the courts could push the country toward “anarchy and chaos.”
